Have you heard of Kanab, Utah? I sure didn't until I was looking at a map about two months ago. We were planning to do aRoad trip to southern UtahDuring spring break, as I always do, I turned to Google Maps. When I know we're going to take an unknown route, I like to check that we're not passing any hidden gems along the way.

So now I make it a point to explore the area to avoid missing out on anything truly spectacular. And that's exactly how I found the city and these 7 adventurous things to do in Kanab!

Sitting between the east entrance of theZion National Parkand Page, Arizona, is Kanab (near Orderville Utah). We were planning to drive directly to Horseshoe Bend (one of myfavorite places) but I decided to do some research on this small town.

Fortunately, I found the official website ofVisit a Utah scrolland after browsing for less than 5 minutes, I was sold! We completely changed the course of our trip and plan to stay in Kanab for about two days. There are so many lodging options in Kanab (there's even camping here!) We were lucky enough to stay inHotel Boutique Canyons.

Oboutique style roomsThey make you feel at home along with their incredibly friendly staff. The room was spacious, cozy and provided exactly what we needed. In bed, they even left us a note about what the weather would be like the next day so we could better prepare our plans. We love attention to detail!

At night we curl up on the sofas.outside enjoying the fireplace.The next morning the hot buffet breakfast was just what we needed to set us up for the day.

ATV Rentals in Kanab, Utah

We were lucky to experience thePeek-A-Boo Slot Canyon ATV Tourand made the list of our best ATV tours! You will meet them in the center of Kanab, where they will take you to the trailhead. From there you can hop on one of their nice ATVs and start cruising.

We have ridden ATVs before but we think even a beginner could enjoy this trail with pleasure. Our guide was always checking on us and making sure we were okay. After a 20-minute ride, you'll arrive at Peek-A-Boo Slot Canyon (Red Canyon).

I got to experience Antelope Canyon in Arizona just a few months ago and I have to say if I had to pick a favorite it would be this space in the canyon. We hardly saw any other people and there was plenty of time to stop and take photos. Also, being a small group, we really learned a lot from our guide about the history of this slot canyon.

After some time exploring we got back on the ATV and hit the backcountry trails. Every once in a while we would stop and learn in-depth facts about the area which was perfect for my husband who loved history. Explore the Moqui caves

Where are the Moquis caves? These caves can be seen from the road near Highway 89. You will find these Moqui Caves between the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Kanab and Moqui Cave.

There is a small exit on the other side of the road where you can park and walk across the street to get to the trailhead. The trail is short but does involve some climbing, so wear suitable shoes. If you want to photograph the caves, visit just before sunset for beautiful lighting. We didn't have time overnight to visit, but it was still incredibly beautiful during the afternoon.

Spend time in Toadstool Hoodoos

To the east of Kanab, you can visit a place that will make you feel like you have stepped on Mars. EITHERwalkit's less than 3 miles round trip and leads to amazing rock formations. We saw hardly anyone on the trail and had plenty of time and space to explore this unique area. Another plus is that the trail is fairly easy allowing all skill levels to enjoy it.

If you decide to explore Peek-a-Boo Slot Canyon, keep in mind that the hike is 1.5 miles round trip. I would say most skill levels would be enough to complete this tour! It's a flat walk through packed sand and there's only one part you need to climb over a small rock.

Kanab is fast becoming a foodie scene. Walking along the main street, you will see uniquely decorated restaurants, all with different menus that will please even the most demanding diners. We decided to visit theRestaurante Rocking VAnd it did not disappoint!

I choose the Supreme Gastro-Queen pasta while Steve enjoys the Rocking V meatloaf. And of course, we had to order dessert with homemade bread pudding from the menu! We even splurged and got a dream cheesecake slice on top of the bread pudding.
